The award-winning fantasy horror television series "Supernatural" returns next week with its latest episode titled "The Scorpion and The Frog." In the upcoming installment, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jenses Ackles) attempt to steal a mysterious trunk belonging to a demon named Barthamus (guest star David Cubitt). In return, the brothers will acquire a locator spell they can use to find Jack (Alexander Calvert).

The episode title is a reference to an animal fable in which a scorpion asks a frog to carry it across a river. The frog is hesitant as it fears getting stung and killed. The scorpion convinces the frog by arguing that should he decide to sting the frog, both of them would drown and die. Having heard this, the frog agrees to carry the scorpion across the waters, but is stung halfway through the river. When the frog asks why it attacked, the scorpion replied by saying it was in its nature to do so.

Catermatt speculates that the use of the animal fable as the title of the upcoming episode could have something to do with the story line involving the brothers and their search for Jack, the son of the devil. "The Scorpion and The Frog" could imply that, just like the scorpion, there is no way for Jack to change his nature because of his lineage. Could the brothers end up like the frog and get deceived by Jack?

The promo for the upcoming episode shows the brothers being oriented about Luther Shrike (Warren Christie) who is described to have an appetite for collecting supernatural objects. They are then introduced to Smash and Grab, who are experts in bypassing supernatural security. The introduction of the safe-cracking professionals makes Sam and Dean realize that they will be involved in a heist.

"Supernatural" season 13 episode 8 will air on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
