Nintendo announced that the fast-paced puzzler "Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido" is scheduled to release simultaneously for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS on June 8.

Polygon reported that Nintendo made the announcement during its Nintendo Direct presentation on March 8. Apparently, "Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido" is set in a role-playing game (RPG)-style world where sushi is banned following the heart-breaking Sushi Struggles. Players take on the role of the young hero of the game (who can either be female or male depending on the players' preference), Musashi, who is tasked to carry on conveyor belt sushi battles to defeat the controlling Empire, overthrow the monopoly of the world's sushi supply and defend his or her homeland from invading enemies so that citizens may be able to enjoy eating sushi in peace.

To be able to do so, Musashi must become a Sushi Striker. A successful Sushi Striker must be able to devour conveyor belt sushi, match colored plates and types of sushi to defeat the enemies that come his or her way by hurling tall stacks of plates. The more matches players make, the taller the stacks of plates and the stronger their attacks will be. Musashi must also befriend Sushi Sprites and form a team of three to be able to harness their powers in the conveyor battles he or she will be facing.

"Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido" will also have a solo story campaign mode as well as one versus one local and online multiplayer modes. However, there will be no cross-compatibility between the upcoming Switch and 3DS versions.
