"Switched at Birth" has been renewed for a fifth season, and with the pickup, the series will reach 100 episodes when it returns to ABC Family/ Freeform next year. In the season 4 finale, both Daphne and Bay appear to have a few things to think about as Mingo told Daphne that they should take some time off to think about their relationship, while Bay's first art exhibit ended with her getting a kiss from Travis. But in a surprising plot twist, the show jumped 10 months into the future, which shows the girls now living in China. Bay is now working as a tattoo artist while Daphne works at a local health clinic.

Speaking to TVLine, show creator Lizzy Weiss talked about the 10-month time jump, saying, "It felt natural to jump them a little bit, to take them into their futures."

But it looks like Daphne and Bay won't be in China for long. According to Zap2It, Bay will get a disturbing phone call that says something is not right back home. The website reports that a there are a number of possibilities as to why the girls will be packing their bags and heading home to Kansas, such as Toby and Lily's newborn son having some health problems, or Eric may have been found by the police after he kidnapped Will back in the season 4 finale.

Weiss said that when the girls get home, things may seem a bit different for fans of the series.

"With time, [we] want to shift some things around. We might even jump a little more, we'll see. We need to talk through everything and figure out the best way to go, but we have some thoughts we're playing with," said Weiss.

And while the finale certainly left a lot of questions, Weiss said that fans will get answers "whenever we're back on."

"Switched at Birth" season 5 is slated to premiere on ABC Family/ Freeform in 2016.
