'Switched at Birth' season 4 premiere spoilers: Daphne overwhelmed with guilt

When season 3 ended, there was a big question looming over Daphne's and Bay's future. Bay made a huge life-altering decision, and Daphne starts to feel guilty about what happened.

Going back to the finale, Bay decided to take the fall for Daphne's crimes and traded her own future so that Daphne could have a better one. And now, season 4 starts with Daphne reflecting on her current situation and feeling guilty about what happened.

Actress Katie LecClerc had a chat with TV Guide and she had something to say about her character Daphne, as well as the choices she made that will continue haunting her.

"Bay made the choice ... so Daphne in this weird place where she wants to make it up to her, but it's something [Bay] chose to do. Bay has a huge battle to climb ... [Meanwhile, we're] dealing with college life and some really difficult issues I never saw coming," LeClerc said.

According to Carter Matt, Daphne will also have a new love interest come season 4. With college life beginning, she has to figure things out, make sure she doesn't make any wrong choices anymore, and make Bay's sacrifice worth it.

Meanwhile, while Daphne is off to college and starting a new life, Bay is exactly where she is — dealing with her choice. She took the fall so that Daphne wouldn't go to jail, but her boyfriend Emmett does not agree with her decision.

In TV Guide's first look at the season premiere, Daphne and Bay are talking to the police about the vandalism incident. The police seems to believe their story, but Emmett isn't happy at all. Bay and Emmett were set for college in Los Angeles. Now, Emmett has to stay back home.

Emmett asks, "How can you make a big decision without me?"

Bay explains, "Because I didn't want to be talked out of it and I knew if I didn't go through with it, I was going to regret it every single day knowing I could've done something and didn't."

"Switched at Birth" season 4 premieres on Jan. 6 on ABC Family.
