The last episode of "Switched at Birth" season 4 aired last Monday and people bid their temporary goodbyes to the series. Fortunately, the show got renewed for another season, but fans are wondering when they will see their favorite "Switched at Birth" characters once again.

In season four's finale episode, Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) were seen in China 10 months following their summer escapade.

The two girls decided to head to China for another adventure instead of dealing with love troubles.

Fans also got to see a 10-month time jump during the show and saw Bay working as a tattoo artist and Daphne offering services at a local health clinic, which only suggests that the girls had a great time over the summer and were fulfilling their dreams.

When asked about the time jump, showrunner Lizzy Weiss explained that it was necessary for the show.

"We just really wanted to add a cliffhanger so that, if we were lucky enough to come back, we'd have something to jump off of. And it felt natural to jump them a little bit, to take them into their futures," Weiss said, in an interview with TV Line.

As for questions about Daphne returning to school, Weiss only said that the answer will be revealed once the show returns.

While Daphne and Bay were in China, they got call from home and heard of some shocking news.

When asked about how season 5 will be different, Weiss revealed that the production team wants to change things a bit and would even consider more time jump.

Zap2It also speculated that there could be several things that may have happened while the girls were away from Kansas.

According to the report, the police may have found Eric (Terrell Tilford), who could involve Regina (Constance Marie) in Will's (Sayeed Shahidi) kidnapping.

It could also be that Lily (Rachel Shenton) and Toby (Lucas Grabeel) may have problems dealing with their newborn son.

So many questions left unanswered and it will still be a long wait because the release date of "Switched at Birth" season 5 has not been announced, but it is expected to be early next year.
