Nostalgia will be at full throttle in "Switched at Birth" season 5 as the final season of the family drama ties up all loose ends by harking back to where it all began.

"Switched at Birth" creator Lizzy Weiss revealed on Twitter that the final scene in "Switched at Birth" season 5 takes place in the same location the first scene of the pilot was set. This spot is nothing but the Kennish house.

That goes for the storyline as well. "Switched at Birth" star Vanessa Marano, who plays Bay, told Just Jared that the show's last season "has a lot of returning story lines."

"We left a lot of loose ends open last season so now we're tying everything together," she continued. Despite the familiarity, "Switched at Birth" season 5 will also have something new on the table, borne of the development of the characters.

"It's very much like a new year because so much time has passed and the girls are at these new places in their lives," the actress went on to say.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 picks up right where the fourth season left off, with Bay and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) in China starting a new life with new jobs.

They got a call from someone prompting them to come back. It is rumored that it is their parents beckoning them to return for an emergency.

Whether or not this speculation is correct, fans will have to wait for "Switched at Birth" to premiere in January 2017 to find out. The fourth season ended last October. The final season is expected to wrap up October, if not August or September 2017.

Notorious for featuring storylines relating to social issues and concerns, "Switched at Birth" season 5 will have an episode tackling racism on the school campus.

This installment is set in a costume party where a white student dresses up as his favorite rapper, Lil Jon, something that came as insult to the black students at the same shindig.
