The premiere date of "Switched at Birth" season 5 may still be a few months away, but details about the upcoming season are being leaked online.

The fifth and last season of Freeform's family drama is expected to feature the return of Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) from China after they received a call from home at the end of season 4. But Marano revealed that there are more storylines that will tackled in the upcoming season.

"This entire season has a lot of returning story lines actually," she told Just Jared in March. "We left a lot of loose ends open last season so now we're tying everything together. There's a lot of...it's very much like a new year because so much time has passed and the girls are at these new places in their lives."

She also revealed that viewers may have to revisit some of the past episodes of the show to remember some of the stories that will find their conclusion in the upcoming season.

Several speculations about the plot of season 5 include the possible trouble in the marriage of Kathryn (Lea Thompson) and John (D.W. Moffett), which could eventually lead to divorce.

In season 4, Bay's legal parents and Daphne's biological parents were constantly fighting with each other. But John also had a problematic health condition in the previous season, which could also mean that his condition could have gotten worse next season.

There are also several spoilers claiming that Bay could have a new love interest in the fifth and final season of "Switched at Birth." But fans are still rooting for her reunion with Travis (Ryan Lane). Some speculations also claim that someone might die when the series returns.

Freeform is scheduled to air the premiere episode of "Switched at Birth" season 5 in January 2017.
