|PIC1|Switchfoot, a groundbreaking rock band renowned for their 'meaningful' songs will give fans a preview of their new album with downloads available from September 26.

The track 'Dirty Little Hands', a pre-release from their sixth album Oh! Gravity, will be released on 26 December.

The new project was produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones), all songs written by frontman Jon Foreman.

Prior to the release of the album, the San Diego band will begin a tour playing various venues starting October 17 in Bakersfield, California and ending November 22 in Las Vegas.

'Dirty Little Hands' can be downloaded from iTunes.

Switchfoot's latest album Nothing is Sound followed the group's multi-platinum 2003 breakthrough, The Beautiful Letdown, which spawned the hits "Dare You to Move" and "Meant to Live."

From 2003 to 2005, Switchfoot performed over 400 shows from recorded Nothing is Sound while on tour, and used their live performances to work on the new material before committing it to disc.

In 2004, Switchfoot's frontman Jon Foreman claimed to be "Christian by faith, not by genre".

"We've always been very open and honest about where the songs are coming from. For us, these songs are for everyone. Calling us 'Christian rock' tends to be a box that closes some people out and excludes them. And that's not what we're trying to do. Music has always opened my mind - and that's what we want."
