Bandai Namco has officially announced the release date for their newest role-playing, third person shooter game, "Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet." The game is based on the virtual reality game, "Gun Gale Online" or GGO, which was presented in second season of the anime series "Sword Art Online (SOT)."

The new "SOT" game will be available starting on Feb. 23, 2018. There is still no information on whether the game will follow the plotline of the GGO arc in the animated series or follow a different story instead. Author of the "Sword Art Online" manga series, Reki Kawahara, is also the director of the video game's story campaign.

Gamers can create and customize their own avatars and engage on a gun-slinging adventure with other players. The multiplayer combat gameplay includes a co-op and competitive mode. The game can accommodate two to eight players.

According to the product description of the game posted by Bandai Namco on Amazon, the gameplay of "Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet" is similar to "GGO's" video game representation in the anime. This includes a variety of weapons including light swords, snipers, cannons, and more. Players can battle other players, huge monsters, and even a giant robot.

The release date trailer also revealed Kirito aka Kirigaya Kazuto and Sinon aka Asada Shino as part of the game. Fans are asking if Yuuki Asuna will also be featured.

Gamers all over the world have already preordered the game from Bandai Namco. The preorder bonus includes the Silver Assault Gun and Kirito and Asuna avatar costumes.
