"Team Fortress 2" is getting set to welcome a new infusion of weapons, maps, cars and other items via the latest update released for the game.

Headlining the list of free additions coming to the game is the new map named Powerhouse. The map will be the game's first and, thus far, only three-point Control Point option, providing players with an all-new experience as they engage in online combat. Also added to "Team Fortress 2" are three new community-developed maps, according to Gamespot.

A new weapon-equipping mechanic is also set to dramatically change the gameplay in "Team Fortress 2." While in the past, players were only able to equip themselves with new weapons after they respawned, now they can exchange weapons with players on the field who have already been killed during the course of battle.

New modifications made to the game's different character classes are also expected to impact the action moving forward. New achievements and taunts are also coming to "Team Fortress 2" courtesy of the new update.

Apart from all the free items, the latest update for the game also features new additions in the form of premium content, meaning players will have to pay for it.

The premium content, known as the Gun Mettle campaign, is a three-month event wherein players can choose from several different contracts that will yield their own specific rewards upon completion, according to Polygon.

As of now, there are different kinds of rewards players can obtain from completing the contracts. Some rewards come in the form of weapons, which may range from common to rare. All weapons obtained via completing contracts can either be traded or sold as per the player's discretion.

Players may also receive random paintjobs upon the completion of a contract, adding more variety to the looks of their characters within the game.
