'Teen Mom 2' star Kailyn Lowry writes children's book about love despite criticism

Kailyn Lowry might not be an expert when it comes to love, but the "Teen Mom 2" star did not let that stop her from writing a children's book about that subject.

The 23-year-old mother of two recently unveiled a book titled "Love is Bubblegum," which she said was inspired by her five-year-old son Isaac. Lowry told US Weekly that she got the inspiration to write the book when her son asked her what love is.

"I thought, 'This might be a good concept story for a children's book,' so that's when I took it and ran with it," Lowry recalled.

She then gathered the innocent but cute explanation of children about their concept of love, then collaborated with illustrator Fuuji Takashi to draw colorful images for the book.

For Isaac, love is pretty simple: "I love when I pet my dog Gizmo." But Lowry said that not all kids have endearing perceptions about love. Some even gave mature answers despite their young age, which Lowry said she never expected.

For some followers of MTV's reality series about a group of girls who became mothers at a young age, Lowry is the last person who is qualified to write about love in a book. Her relationship with Isaac's father Jo Rivera did not end in marriage, and her current marriage with Javi Marroquin, the father of her 20-month-old son Lincoln, is currently on the rocks. But the "Teen Mom 2" star wants to prove them all wrong.

"My haters ... they are going to be questioning the title and how can I explain love to a little one or my kids when I don't even display love for my husband on the show," she said. "My kids were and are my first true loves. I never really knew what it was like to love somebody unconditionally until I had my kids."

"Love Is Bubblegum" is expected to come out in bookstores beginning Nov. 17, while "Teen Mom 2" season 6 is currently airing on MTV.
