Earlier this month, it was reported that Leah Messer has lost primary custody of her 5-year-old twins, Aliannah and Aleeah to her ex, Corey Simms. Following the reports, the "Teen Mom 2" star took to Twitter to post that she is enjoying the weekend with her girls, though at that time she did not confirm whether the reports were accurate.

Now, Leah is opening up about losing custody of her daughters, and in a new interview with Us Weekly, the 23-year-old said that the judge's ruling "was like a slap in the face." According to the magazine, a West Virginia judge ruled that Corey would have the girls from Monday through Friday, while Leah will have them during the weekends only.

Leah said that it all started after an Aug. 24 hearing where Corey accused her of not getting the twins to school on time. However, she said that the girls were tardy only once, and that they were never late after that. The reality star also said that she set up a school board meeting on Oct. 19 to clarify the situation.

"I talked to the superintendent and I'm sending them the [time-stamped] pictures I took to prove the girls were not tardy. They're going to take them off," she explained.

Leah revealed that she filed a motion to reconsider the custody change as she hopes to share 50/50 custody with her ex.

She also said that money might have something to do with Corey's decision to fight for custody of their children.

"I think child support has a lot to do with [his motivations]," she said. In the interview with Us, she also claims that the girls were "miserable" and said that Aleeah tried to run away from Corey's home.

Leah said that she feels that their daughters should have both of their parents in their lives.

"At the end of the day, my kids are going to be happy, and I don't care what I have to do to make them happy," she said.
