Bipolar and Borderline Personality disorder are two mental health problems that are characterized with mood swings and impulsiveness. Both health problems can prevent people from doing normal everyday lives and sometimes, they can even make the diagnosed individual hurt themselves.

Portwood bravely opened up about her health, and discussed the prescriptions that the doctor has given her. She understands that she needs the medication to get better and there are consequences in taking them.

Portwood discussed that she will never get pregnant with the medication. She also shared that she is fine with that, quoting, "If I do not take medication, I will not be normal." Her fiancé Matt Baier, who also agrees with the decision, explained that for now, being mentally healthy is much more important.

Aside from this, Portwood was also asked by MTV on what she thinks other people might learn from her experience. Portwood explains, "If a medication says that it can harm your pregnancy in any way, which is pretty much 90% of my medication, you don't mess with something like that. When you have borderline personality disorder and bipolar, it's not something to play around with, so you have to take your medication."

She also added that one of her goals is to inspire and educate other people watching the show. She continued, "I talk about things that are deep and dear to me because I want to show what life is really like sometimes."

As of the moment, the 26-year-old reality TV star is doing well. With the help of her medication and determination to stay healthy, Portwood will continue fighting and be an inspiration for others with the same condition.
