'Teen Wolf' season 5 spoilers: Love and death loom in Beacon Hills for new season

Aside from the new monsters that will bring major problems for the Beacon Hills pack, "Teen Wolf" season 5 will feature a whole lot of other exciting events as well.

Spoilers say that Liam's (Dylan Sprayberry) human best friend and openly-gay Beacon Hills High School athlete Mason (Khylin Rhambo) will finally find a love interest when actor Michael Johnston's character Corey is introduced in episode 4 this season. Meanwhile, a new sophomore girl named Hayden (Victoria Morales) will catch Liam's attention. Will Liam and Mason both have a romantic schoolyear ahead of them?

Other casting additions for MTV's supernatural teen drama include 16-year-old Texas-native Michael Lynch who will reportedly portray the role of a mythical creature called Sluagh, who enjoys feasting on the souls of the innocent and occasionally leaves a part of his own rotting soul in the body of his victims.

Then there is Theo (Cody Christian), a lone wolf who knows quite a lot of Beacon Hills secrets that nobody thought he would know. His presence will reportedly strike discord between Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) and Scott (Tyler Posey).

But probably the biggest casting news this season is the return of Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore, who left Beacon Hills in the beginning of season 3 when his father moved the family to London. Haynes' return came after his character in The CW's "Arrow" died last season. However, no details were given if Jackson will be back as Scott's pack ally or if he will become one of the main villains of the show.

Meanwhile, SpoilerTV revealed that one of the major characters will die this season, and Lydia's (Holland Roden) mother Natalie Martin (Susan Walters) will also return, but things may not go well between the two.

"Teen Wolf" season 5 is slated to return on MTV beginning June 29.
