The prospect of cross-platform play has excited many fans waiting for "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution." While Microsoft is interested, Sony needs a bit of convincing.

Cross-platform play allow gamers with an Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or PC to play with each other. On Twitter, "Tekken" designer Michael Murray revealed the status of such feature making it to "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution."

"Please ask Sony," the artist simply answered when asked by a fan whether or not PS4 and PC cross-play will be possible in "Tekken 7."

He added that Microsoft "already publicly said they're interested in cross platform" so Xbox One and PC players have nothing to worry about.

Sony has allowed cross-platform abilities with the PS4 and PC in the past and has not closed its doors to do more, at least according to the statement they sent to GameSpot earlier this year.

"PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002," Sony stated.

"We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play," the company went on to say.

However, there's no clear indication if PS4 and PC cross-play will be possible in "Tekken 7." However, Sony might make it happen anyway if approached.

After all, if there's one thing the video game giant could end up rejecting, it is collaborating with competition like the Xbox One for cross-play.

For now, cross-play support is not confirmed for "Tekken 7" yet, but with the game still months away from its official release, it might end up with the feature after all.

"Tekken 7" will be featured in the upcoming Gamescom 2017 with director Katsuhiro Harada gracing the convention. The game will of course be playable there.

Gamescom will take place in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 17 to 21.
