'Tekken 7' new screenshots out; 'Street Fighter' character Akuma's background detailed

Bandai Namco is giving gamers a closer look at the fighters in the Japanese arcade version of "Tekken 7" with a bunch of new screenshots. Everyone's there, including Akuma, who is coming all the way from the "Street Fighter" universe to grace the roster.

The "Fated Retribution" update for the game added Akuma as the latest playable character. Games Radar points out that the fighter's original history in his own universe will be altered when he reaches the battlegrounds of "Tekken 7."

In his original realm, Akuma holds his evil nature close. His name means demon in Japanese and he is all for becoming the strongest fighter in the battlefield. But in "Tekken 7," Akuma comes with a mission to carry out.

Akuma is sent to the realm to wipe out the Mishima clan. With Kazumi dead, Akuma is now set to put his wife and son to death. While this isn't the complete "Tekken x Street Fighter" crossover fans were hoping for, the red-haired monster's entrance proves it can happen.

One of the images from "Tekken 7" also gives a glimpse of Akuma's temple stage in the game. Other stages are also shown in some of the photos.

The screenshots also demonstrate the game's improvement on the visual and graphics department. In fact, the visual in this game is looking to be the best one in the history of the long-running fighting game series.

The outfits donned by the fighters as seen in the screenshots also happen to be the default ones. This is what game director and producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed during a Twitter stint. He also promised that more characters, this time from the "Tekken" realm, will also be added to the ensemble.

Harada was not keen on giving hints as to who will grace the arena next but he urged fans to stay tuned for more information. He hinted he will be giving an update next year. He also acknowledged the gamers' request to bring "Tekken 7" to PC but he did not make promises about that yet.
