'Tekken 7': Tekken Tunes not a Day One feature of upcoming game

Gamers will not be able to change audio and listen to their favorite songs as background while playing "Tekken 7" on PlayStation 4, at least for a while.

According to Dual Shockers, some fans who are fond of Tekken Tunes have asked director and producer Katsuhiro Harada if it will come with the console version of the newest franchise installment. Apparently, Bandai Namco is having issues at the moment, and so the feature will not ship out as a Day One option for "Tekken 7" players.

However, Harada said that is only "impossible at the moment," hinting that the feature could be added to the title at a later date as an update patch.

The Tekken Tunes feature introduced in "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" permitted players to change the background music in stage fights with MP3 or songs of their own choice. The feature also allowed the original scores for the fighter title to be listened to as part of an audio playlist. However, for the PS4 version of "Tekken 7," Harada and the Bandai Namco team were met with copyright and OS policies of Sony Entertainment. The publisher was mentioned as currently negotiating for an update in Sony's policies to be able to unlock the Tekken Tunes feature.

While Harada has already said that details on "Tekken 7" might not come out at this year's PlayStation Experience event (which starts today), fans are still expecting that updates about Tekken Tunes -- as well as other information like general release window, confirmation on a rumored PC port, and additional characters, if any -- might be hinted at during the convention. Harada is part of the Fighting Games Panel, which will occur later this today. Harada will be joined by Yoshinori Ono, producer of "Street Fighter V," and Seth Killian, developer for "Rising Thunder."
