"Tekken 7" and its update, "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution," have been available in arcades in Japan since 2015, but Bandai Namco has yet to announce when the game will roll out on consoles and PC in the US and Europe. New rumors suggest that it is coming by February next year, but it won't be supporting cross-platform play.

According to Flying Wonkey, a known insider, the game is scheduled to launch by the final week of February 2017. However, Bandai Namco has yet to confirm or deny this release schedule. Fans note that the previous game, "Tekken 6," cannot be used to determine a release pattern given that it launched on consoles as far back as 2009.

Given that the information cannot be verified, at this point, fans of the franchise should still take the February release date as pure speculation until proven otherwise.

When the game does launch, it is going to be available for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. However, fans should not expect the game to support cross-platform play due to security reasons explained by game director Katsuhiro Harada.

Posting on Twitter, Harada stated, "It's not a matter of the technology but first-party company policies and potential security risks."

The director also explained that there was an even higher risk with the PC platform because of the higher possibility of PC gamers to use mods and cheats to gain an unfair advantage on PS4 and Xbox One players. Some of these cheats and mods on PC could affect player privacy and account information.

Because of this, there will be no means of PS4 players competing against Xbox One and PC players or vice versa.

"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" will launch sometime in 2017 and will come with the DLC content already launched for the arcade version of the game, as well as special guest characters such as Akuma from the "Street Fighter" franchise.
