Bandai Namco has finally confirmed that "Tekken 7" will finally hit the Western market through a series of tournaments while the game studio is gearing up for the release of the game's console editions.

The "Tekken 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 – North America" will take place in 17 cities all over the U.S. and Canada. It will bring together the best Tekken players from different areas to compete for generous cash prizes and bragging rights.

"The Tekken series is a cornerstone of the fighting game community and continues to evolve and advance the genre forward with each installment," Director Katsuhiro Harada of the Tekken Project at Bandai Namco said in a statement, as reported by Gaming Target. "I'm excited to see what the North American Tekken community is made of as they compete over the next seven months in the Tekken 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 in North America."

Winners from each tournament will win a prize pool that could reach $3,000, while the grand prize of $20,000 will be given to the winner of the North America Season Finals.

But fans are still looking forward to more news regarding the home console versions of the famous Japanese arcade game.

It has been over a year since the game developer announced that they are planning to release the game for the PlayStation 4. There are speculations claiming that the game will also come out on the Xbox One. However, news about the game's release on consoles remain scarce.

But loyal players of the game continue to hope for an upcoming console announcement for "Tekken 7." According to Vine Report, fans are crossing their fingers for more details about "Tekken 7" during this year's EVO Championship Series, scheduled on July 15 to 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
