It has already been confirmed that "Tekken 7" will make it to console platforms and will even be VR-capable. Meanwhile, as the hype for the upcoming title builds up, some observers are saying that "Tekken 7" may well be the last installment in the series.

According to Yibada, some of the new details that have emerged about the upcoming installment of the "Tekken" franchise were spilled via a new trailer for the PS4, which highlighted the 20th anniversary of the series. The footage was taken from the different titles under the franchise, which also shows how "Tekken" has progressed over the years.

The video game trailer also offers to fans a glimpse of the events about the Mishima family. Starting out with Kazuya obtaining the Devil Gene, the trailer also shows the matriarch Kazumi Mishima as a demon, and a confrontation between Kazuya and Heihachi, the patriarch of the Mishima clan. Based on the footage, it can be inferred that "Tekken 7" will not only reveal how the Mishimas came to be (making the title sort of a prologue to the series), but will also highlight a closure on the family history. Since the Mishima family is central to the whole franchise, a closure at this point will also serve as the final piece in the "Tekken" puzzle.

However, this doesn't mean that the "Tekken" franchise is dead. Even if the Iron Fist Tournament shuts down with the ending of the Mishima clan story, it has already been established that other franchise-related titles are in the works. It has already been confirmed by Bandai Namco and Capcom that a cross-over title, "Tekken x Street Fighter," is already in development.

Although there is still no confirmed date for the release of "Tekken 7" for consoles, fans may expect the title for the PS4 and Xbox One sometime next year.
