It seems like the brain behind the "Terminator" franchise is excited to see the next installment from his long-running sci-fi thriller.

James Cameron, the original director of the first "Terminator" film back in 1984 and its sequel in 1991, said that the soon-to-be released "Terminator Genisys" is something to look forward to, and it could be even better than the last two "Terminator" films that were previously released.

In a brief video interview recently uploaded by Yahoo, the award-winning director said that he was impressed with the new "Terminator" movie after seeing its pre-release screening. For Cameron, "Genisys" could be considered as the real third installment of the franchise since it managed to live up to the standards set by the first two films, which the third and fourth movies failed to do.

"In the new film, which in my mind I think of as the third film, we see Arnold take the character even farther," the director stated.

Cameron also confessed that he was not a fan of 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" directed by Jonathan Mostow, as well as McG's "Terminator Salvation" released in 2009.

The famous filmmaker earlier admitted that he was asked by Paramount films to be involved in the new movie, and shared that he and David Ellison sat down for several meetings to talk about the iconic role of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the franchise, as well as the tips to stay true to his original T-800 character which was introduced in the first film. Alan Taylor is the director for the new film.

"If you like the Terminator films, you're going to love this movie," the director said.

"Terminator Genisys" also stars "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Lee Byung-hun as the evil T-1000, Courtney B. Vance as Miles Dyson, J. K. Simmons as Detective O'Brien, Dayo Okeniyi as Danny Dyson, and Gregory Alan Williams as Detective Harding, among others.

The film is scheduled for release on July 1.
