2015's "Terminator Genisys" was meant to be an official reboot of the "Terminator" franchise but the film underperformed in the box office and with critics alike. A new report from Coming Soon now reveals that the film is also losing its main star, Emilia Clarke, as she is no longer available to portray lead character Sarah Connor.

"No," the star replied when asked if she was returning for the rumored sequels to "Terminator Genisys," which are expected to still bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger. "Can I say that? It's okay. No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up."

Clarke inherited the role from Linda Hamilton, who played the character in the original two films, and from "Game of Thrones" co-star Lena Headey who played the character in the "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." However, Clarke's version of the character underwent a different history as she was raised by a Terminator (Schwarzenegger) and was already prepared for the computer uprising. 

Critics dismissed the film for the way it altered the established history and lore of the franchise and how it attempted but ultimately failed to re-visit the iconic scenes from the two first movies. As pointed out in a report from Cinema Blend, the movie failed to break $500 million worldwide and was since considered as a box office failure.

Despite this, Emilia Clarke will still be busy with her role as Daenerys Targaryen in "Game of Thrones" and has a new film coming out titled "Me Before You." Her co-star Jai Courtney is tied to the "Suicide Squad" movie and J.K. Simmons has recently been cast in the upcoming "Justice League: Part One" and most likely the solo "Batman" movie.

With the loss of Clarke, the report points out that a direct sequel to "Terminator Genisys" is even less likely to materialize and the film will likely have to be rebooted yet again.
