'Terraria' update 1.3 release date news: Massive update drops to PS4 and Xbox One

Update 1.3 has now dropped to Xbox One and PS4 platforms.Terraria

The vast world of action, role-playing game "Terraria" is now bigger and better -- thanks to update 1.3, which has now been made available to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platform users courtesy of game developers Re-Logic and Pipeworks.

This recently dropped update completely changes the world of Terraria into something that you have yet to see. Visual quality across all supported platforms has now been made consistent. New and massive content additions have now been made accessible to players of the highly acclaimed 2-D game. This new upgrade will see the biggest additions of features, including a new mode, various game events, and a whole lot of new items.

In the upgrade, Expert Mode can now be accessed in the World Creation Menu -- this new mode will enable players to experience the world of Terraria in a new, much harsher light. Once activated, players who complete challenges in this new difficulty setting will be granted greater rewards.

Aside from the new difficulty option, developers have also added brand-new invasion quests and events, including Martian Madness, Slime Rain, The Goblin Invasion, battle against the Lunar Cultists, and much more. These new events were either activated on the latest update release or were improved in terms of graphics and visual appeal.

Besides these additions, creators have drastically improved the graphics and user interface for the game with brand-new controller layouts, improved interface for single player and split screen, numerous save slots inclusions, and larger worlds to navigate. All these progressions were made in order to improve parity between the PC version and other platforms.

The team behind "Terraria" also assured fans who have legacy versions of the game that their saved worlds would not be deleted if they choose to upgrade into the new 1.3 patch; instead, these saves will be converted into the new format.

Players of the Xbox and PlayStation 4 can now avail of the new upgrade.

"Terraria" first came into the gaming scene in 2011 as a game exclusive for the PC platform but, due to its popularity and insistent demand from fans, the game has been ported to current, popular consoles since its debut. The game has sold over 20 million copies since its initial outing.

In other news, a port to the Nintendo Switch is currently in the works and will be made available in the near future. Last year, it missed its intended window launch date of 2017, but developers share that it will still continue on with the planned port.
