The moment Sheldon and Amy shippers have been waiting for is closer than ever. The next episode of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will finally see the lovebirds spend a night together. From what has already been said, this night will be hot and steamy.

The title of the installment is "The Opening Night Excitation" and at last after five years of dating, Sheldon and Amy will finally sleep together. The promotional photos from the episode promise that the night will be special and romantic.

But while this "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode seems to be all about Sheldon and Amy consummating their five-year relationship, it will also be especially interesting how the couple actually gets there.

With their date coinciding with the premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which by all means Sheldon would not dare to miss, he is put in a massive quandary on choosing which one he will go to. Spoilers indicate that Sheldon's geeky tendencies can wait.

It looks like he finally learned his lesson and he did so the hard way. Fans will remember that last season, Sheldon interrupted his lip-locking session with Amy to talk about "The Flash." This was the last draw from the latter, which pushed her to end the relationship. Nonetheless, Sheldon will surely feel right about his choice this time.

In the synopsis of the upcoming "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode, it is revealed that Leonard, Raj and Howard have an extra ticket for the film. This is probably intended to be for Sheldon but knowing that he is skipping the screening, the group is left to look for someone that can join them.

It remains to be seen who they end up going with but it would feel right to see Arthur Jeffries aka professor Proton checking out the film with the gang. Emmy Award winner Bob Newhart is reprising his memorable role and he returns just in time. Because after all, he is Sheldon's own Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 11 "The Opening Night Excitation" airs Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
