Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will fight his way back to his friends in Star City in the next episode of "The Flash" season 2.

In the trailer for the episode titled "The Runaway Dinosaur," Barry wakes up in a room after the particle accelerator seems to have torn him to pieces. However, it remains unclear where the Scarlet Speedster ended up after he was blown away in the previous episode.

It also appears that Barry is not alone in his current place. Based on the trailer, Joe West (Jesse Martin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) are also there. But the person who appears like a police officer claims that he is not Joe, and Iris seems to be very indifferent when Barry appeals for his return.

"Please let me go back right now," Barry tells his best friend. However, the person who looks like Joe tells him, "You're not coming back."

Does this mean that Barry will remain in a still-unknown alternative world while Star City faces a returning threat?

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, "With Barry gone, the team must figure out a way to handle the return of an old enemy -- Girder (guest star Greg Finley). Realizing Girder is retracing his steps from his last attack, Iris volunteers to act as bait to trap him in S.T.A.R. Labs. Meanwhile, Barry fights to return to his old life."

Meanwhile, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shot down rumors that Barry's disappearance will open the slot for Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) and Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) to step up and replace Barry as Star City's Scarlet Speedster.

"Right now, the show is called The Flash," Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. "For the most part, Barry Allen is the only Flash. Obviously there's expectations for both of their characters; whether or not they're realized is part of the fun and joy of watching the show. It will never be Spider-Man and his amazing friends, it'll always be The Flash."

"The Flash" returns to The CW on Tuesday, May 10.
