'The Good Wife' season 7 finale spoilers: Josh Charles to reprise role as Will Gardner?

Josh Charles will reportedly share the screen as Will Gardner with Jullianne Margulies in "The Good Wife" season 7 finale. CBS

Will Gardner may finally make his much-awaited return in "The Good Wife" season 7. Actor Josh Charles, who plays one of the most important men in Alicia's life, will star in a never-before-seen flashback scene for the finale.

TV Line first reported the news, although CBS is yet to confirm. The word going around is that Charles filmed his scene with Julianna Margulies behind closed doors presumably to make his re-emergence in "The Good Wife" season 7 more impactful.

Will was killed off in season 5 of "The Good Wife." The character, however, has been seen and mentioned in flashbacks multiple times. He played a huge part in Alicia's life in the current season even though he was only mentioned.

Charles has been actively involved in the series after his character's death, having directed a few episodes. He has also expressed his interest in reprising his role in "The Good Wife." The actor told E! Online last year that he "would love to return."

After his "The Good Wife" stint, Charles has been a bit busy, having starred in "Masters of Sex," "Inside Amy Schumer" and the Netflix reboot "Wet Hot American Summer."

"The Good Wife" season 7 is down to its four episodes. Tonight's episode is called "Landing," which sees Peter fighting to clear his name of corruption accusations. Alicia will be by his hide to get through it all.

In the promo for the episode, Alicia gives her husband assurance that they will overcome this crisis. "We've been through this. We've handled worse," she said, after warning Fox not to embarrass Peter.

"The Good Wife" season 7, episode 19 will have "Smash" star Megan Hilty as guest star. The actress will play the role of Holly Westfall, Diane's husband's rival business owner who owns PGT Ballistics. Hilty will try to sway Diane to sell her Timothy's business.

"The Good Wife" season 7 returns with episode 19 tonight, April 17 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. The finale will air on May 8.
