'The Greatest Showman' news: Movie portraying the life of the great P.T. Barnum to premiere before Christmas
People can soon watch the story of the showman P.T. Barnum with "The Greatest Showman" to hit theaters on Dec. 20. The movie recently released its second trailer and an original song made for the film.
"The Greatest Showman," starring Hugh Jackman, is a biographical musical film inspired by the life of Barnum and the adventure of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Jackman will portray the character of Barnum as a son of a tailor who becomes a pioneer for the show business. This is not Jackman's first time in a musical movie. In 2012, he portrayed Jean Valjean in the musical film "Les Miserables."
According to the official description of the movie released by 20th Century Fox, the movie "is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life."
The movie will be directed by Australian director Michael Gracey. "Sex and the City" creator Jenny Bicks worked alongside veteran screenwriter Bill Condon for the screenplay.
Jackman will be joined by "High School Musical" star Zac Efron and Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams. The movie includes other artists from the film and music industry like Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Keala Settle.
The official soundtrack of the movie was created by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Three songs from the original soundtrack of the movie have also been released. The songs "The Greatest Show" and "This Is Me" were uploaded to YouTube by Atlantic Records. "Rewrite the Stars" by Efron and Zendaya is the latest addition to the released tracks. According to comments posted on YouTube by listeners, the song is emotionally strong and that Efron and Zendaya did an amazing job with their duet.
Bloomingdale and "The Greatest Showman" collaborated to welcome the Holidays. Bloomingdale recently unveiled its holiday windows with the design inspired from the movie. Both Zendaya and Settle graced the event.
