The line that single Christian men and women should never cross

Boundaries keep you from crossing lines that should not be crossed Pixabay

Singles have so much freedom. They can make friends with anybody, and are given the freedom to choose the person they will want to marry and be committed to in the sight of God for the rest of their lives.

Many single men and women, however, need to know that in the pursuit of friendship and courtship, there is a very thick line that must never ever be crossed, no matter what happens. Many singles fail in this and live their lives facing the consequences of their wrong decisions.

This article hopes to spare all single Christian man and women the trouble that crossing this line brings. What's this line?

It's called "sin."

Crossing the line of sin

Friends, we should do all that we can to avoid crossing the line and committing sin with the opposite sex, especially sins of a sexual nature.

When single Christian men and women cross the line to commit sin, their lives will never be the same again - especially when the sin is of a sexual nature. They end up damaging their emotions, breaking their hearts, and tying themselves to bondages. And when the sin is premarital sex, children will be born out of wedlock.

Some singles, particularly men, say that have no intentions to commit any sin with a female friend in church, ignoring the fact that "sin lies at the door" because the "adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (see Genesis 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8) Soon, they end up committing the very things they said they wouldn't, and regret it later on.

Knowing this, every single Christian should take extra care to guard their heart and take their every thought captive to Christ! (see Proverbs 4:23; 2 Corinthians 10:5)

Biblical counsel to help avoid crossing the line

Friends, it's always our choice to do what is right or what is wrong. If we do what is wrong, we will offend God and surely face the consequences or our wrong choices. Thankfully, the Bible gives us important counsel against wrong choices.

Single Christian men and women will do well to heed these verses:

Weed out sin from the heart - Matthew 5:27-30

"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.'But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell."

Flee sexual sin - 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

"Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

Avoid physical intimacy - 1 Corinthians 7:1

"It is good for a man not to touch a woman."

Marrying is better than staying single and burning with passion - 1 Corinthians 7:8-9

"But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion."

Marrying is not a sin - 1 Corinthians 7:36

"But if any man thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virgin, if she is past the flower of youth, and thus it must be, let him do what he wishes. He does not sin; let them marry."
