'The Originals' season 3 spoilers: A murderous vampire from the Mikaelson family's past arrives

The Mikaelsons already have their hands full with Aurora, Lucien and Tristan running amok but things are about to get worse. A new merciless enemy is pulling in to wreak havoc in New Orleans when "The Originals" season 3 returns.

According to TV Line, the clan will have to deal with the new ruthless vampire in town named Cortez, whose sketch spells nothing but trouble. The site describes him as "callous, smart and manipulative," a vampire who has "little regard for human life."

That being said, Cortez will not think twice slaying innocent people here and there. It is unclear what brings Cortez to the fray, expect for the fact that at some point in history, he was wronged by the Mikaelsons, or at least one of them.

Cortez's arrival equates to a pile of dead bodies but at the moment, fans can no longer handle seeing another character bite the dust after the intense midseason finale of "The Originals" season 3 that ended with a lifeless Cami.

Fans are still at a loss about how things turned out, especially for viewers who have been waiting for what felt like forever for Klaus and Cami to hit it off. While the pair finally shared a loving kiss, Aurora transformed into a much crazier ex-girlfriend and slashed Cami's throat.

Fans can already imagine a seething Klaus hell-bent with avenging her beloved. When "The Originals" season 3 continues, he will be hunting down Aurora to make her regret (in probably the most brutal way possible) what she did.

That being said, viewers can look forward to more intense action when the show returns although there will be drama tucked in it too. Before Klaus completely goes beastly in making Aurora pay for killing Cami, he will engage in a serious talk with Hayley about their daughter Hope to determine what's best for her.

"The Originals" season 3 returns on Jan. 29 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
