More celebrities are added in the star-studded casting roster of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's upcoming film Suicide Squad.

Over the weekend, rumors are rife about Jared Leto's possible appearance in the super-villain themed film. According to reports, the Oscar Award-winning actor will play the meaty role of Joker from the Batman franchise.

A source shared the information to the entertainment website The Wrap.

The last actor who played the legendary role of Batman's evil nemesis is Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, where the late actor received praises for his very effective portrayal of the psycho clown. Jack Nicholson also played the role of Joker.

Initially, there are reports saying that Ryan Gosling was under negotiation for the role, but he was not excited with the idea that he has to sign a contract that will require him to reprise the role for multiple movies.

Meanwhile, Australian actress Margot Robbie had been picked to portray the role of Harley Quinn in the film. Harley Quinn is considered as the female version of Joker.

The actress reportedly beat out Cara Delevigne for the role of the evil villainess.

Robbie is known for playing a role in The Wolf of Wall Street directed by Martin Scorsese. Presently, the actress is busy filming Tarzan where she will be playing the role of Jane, and she will begin working on other films like the sci-fi film Z for Zachariah that will be released next year, as well as Focus with Will Smith.

Meanwhile, Smith is also reported to be in talks to appear in Suicide Squad. He and other notable actors like Jesse Eisenberg and Tom Hardy are said to be talking with the studio execs to portray some of the key roles in the movie.

The Suicide Squad is expected to hit the screens sometime in 2016.
