"The 100" has mostly focused on the journey of the titular 100 juveniles sent to Earth to discover if the planet was now habitable for the space colony residents. However, according to a recent report from Melty, season 3 will finally shed some light and focus on the Grounder tribes and reveal how they survived the nuclear war.

The only thing clear from the show is that the Grounders managed to survive the nuclear radiation that nearly wiped out mankind. While the Mountain Men tribes hid under the ground in caves and tunnels, the Grounders stayed and endured the radiation. However, this shortened their life spans and turned them into savage people who live brutal lifestyles.

According to the report, the full backstory of the Grounders will be explored, which means there may be flashbacks showing what they did during the early days following the nuclear war and the history on how the numerous tribes began to form. 

More importantly, the relationship of the Ice Nation with the rest of the tribes will be explored. The report cites that the Coalition may start to crumble as the Ice Nation and its queen will begin to undermine Lexa's (Alycia Debnam-Carey) rule.

The report cites that the Ice Nation's position within the Grounder tribes may be shown, allowing the audience to see how much influence they have over the rest of the Grounder tribes. If they have a strong pull then it is possible the Ice Nation's queen may be able to convince the other tribes to put her in position over Lexa.

It is also pointed out that the ice queen, Nia (Brenda Strong), was a ruthless and violent leader. After all, it was Nia who captured Lexa's girlfriend Costia and then tortured her before killing her, all just to get more information about Lexa and her reign over the tribes.

"The 100" season 3 premieres in 2016.
