'The Affair' season 2 spoilers: Cole starts living again, finds someone new in episode 5

Cole (Joshua Jackson) will meet someone who will attract his interest in the upcoming episode of the Showtime series "The Affair."

In episode 5, TV Guide reports that Alison's (Ruth Wilson) estranged husband will find someone who will intrigue him enough to forget his sadness. It appears that Cole has finally moved on from their separation that he now has time to appreciate other people. Cole's downward spiral after Alison left him for Noah has been heartbreaking for viewers. Does this mean he is ready to love again?

Meanwhile, things are not going well for Alison and Noah. She will be furious with her lover after she discovers something upsetting about his new book. It does not help that her Hudson Valley hosts have suddenly changed their attitude toward her. Last episode, she became upset after learning from Noah that they could not live together until the divorce trial is over. What other trials will these two face in the future? Will they be able to overcome all the challenges for the sake of their love?

Elsewhere, Scotty (Colin Donnell) will find a way to make money for their family. Cole, however, will not approve of his plan. Later on, a delicate situation will make things awkward for them. Scotty will reportedly catch Cole in a compromising situation that is best forgotten. What will he see that should be kept a secret, for both their peace of mind?

Last episode, viewers saw how Helen (Maura Tierney) lost it after a really terrible day. Depressed with her divorce and her parents' situation, she resorted to drinking alcohol and smoking weed. When she realized she forgot to get her children from school, Helen accidentally hit the car behind her in the parking lot in her haste. Things got worse when her kid cracked her head in the window because she forgot to strap her in. When a policeman came, he discovered the weed in her wallet and had her arrested.

"The Affair" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
