After revealing who was really responsible for Scotty (Colin Donnell) in season 2, more secrets will be uncovered in "The Affair" season 3.

The third season will feature the events that happened three years after Noah (Dominic West) opted to take the fall for Scotty's murder to protect his ex-wife, Helen (Maura Tierney), and his ex-lover-turned-wife, Alison (Ruth Wilson), who were both responsible for the crime.

After serving his prison sentence, Noah has to readjust to his new life as a writing professor at a college in New Jersey, while Helen, Alison, and Cole (Joshua Jackson) deals with their ramifications of Noah's decision.

Meanwhile, series creator Sarah Treem revealed in an interview with Observer that a fifth point of view is going to be introduced in "The Affair" season 3 through the new character named Juliette Le Gall (Irene Jacob). According to Treem, Juliette is a French medieval professor. She will reportedly be the newest love interest for Noah in season 3.

In a separate interview with TV Guide, Treem also revealed that the island of Montauk will play a significant role in Cole and Alison's lives next season. "Cole's relationship to Montauk is really a big part of Season 3 and how that itself actually changes," the series creator said. "It's interesting because Montauk is changing. Alison's relationship to Montauk also changes in Season 3. Montauk is always the beating heart of the show."

The third season of "The Affair" will also introduce a dark, mysterious character named Gunther (Brendan Fraser), who seemed to be obsessed to know more about Noah. There are no details yet about Gunther's own story, but he is expected to make life more miserable for Noah even after he gets out of prison.

Showtime released the premiere episode of season 3 on Nov. 20. "The Affair" is scheduled to air every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
