Prepare for more "exciting" changes coming to "The Affair" season 3. Fresh from winning the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series in the recent Golden Globes, Maura Tierney detailed what fans can expect when the drama series returns.

"The show is going to change next season — the structure of the show is going to change in an exciting way," the star told Variety. While she admitted she isn't entirely sure of where the series is headed, she did dish out that the storytelling will follow a "narrative structure." It remains to be seen what that means for the show, though.

After the shocking and intense season 2 finale, "The Affair" season 3 should be problematic for Tierney's character, who was the person behind the wheel of the car that ultimately ran over and killed Cole's brother Scotty. This is not the story inside Alison's mind, of course.

In the season 2 finale, Alison's point of view had her thinking that Scotty's death is on her. This is because she was the one who pushed the intoxicated man (after he started to get a little touchy on her) to the road the same time Helen and Cole's hurtling car passed by.

Noah, on the other hand, took the fall on Scotty's death by admitting in the courtroom, where he originally planned to get away with it once and for all, that he was the one responsible for Cole's brother's demise. In "The Affair" season 3, it will be revealed where his decision to come clean will lead him.

Going back to Tierney, the actress teased that the events that will follow will be exciting. After her Golden Globes victory, the actress also thanked everyone involved in the series for giving her "really challenging things to do."

"I think my work excited the writers and the writers' work excited me," the acting veteran further explained.

"The Affair" season 3 premieres this fall on Showtime.
