'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' movie cast rumors, spoilers: Logan Lerman, Dylan O'Brien to replace Andrew Garfield in sequel?

The Amazing Spider-Man

It seems like Andrew Garfield's time as Peter Parker has come to an end as reports claim that new stars are being shortlisted to replace him in his most coveted role as Spider-Man. Rumors say that "Percy Jackson" star Logan Lerman and "Teen Wolf" actor Dylan O'Brien are two actors eyed to take over as the web-slinging superhero.

Lerman auditioned for the role when director Marc Webb was casting for "The Amazing Spider-Man" but lost to Garfield. Meanwhile, O'Brien was previously reported as a replacement for Garfield.

According to Variety, Sony is looking for a much younger version of Peter Parker this time. The new movie is reported to show Spidey's time mostly in high school to establish the milieu and to show two sides of the superhero – a geek and awkward student and a crime fighter.

Either of the two aforementioned stars is a perfect fit for the role as they both proved capable of playing both sides of the character well. Lerman starred in "Perks of Being a Wallflower" following a story of a misfit in school and he also took part in David Ayer's "Fury." O'Brien, on the other hand, proved he can do action and also be awkward in his films "The Maze Runner" and "The First Time."

Meanwhile, there is a very low possibility that Andrew Garfield will reprise his role as emails between him and Sony leaked online. The parties were not in good terms as the company was unhappy with the reviews and ratings as well as the gross income of the two films of the "Spider-Man" reboot. Apparently, the actor was blamed for the low ratings of the film.

There are rumors that "Amazing Spider-Man 3" is still listed in 2018 but there are no details yet as to who are on board and who will take the helm of the new film. More details will be announced as the preparation for the film progresses.
