Ben Higgins is set to make his debut on ABC's "The Bachelor" in a few days. Ahead of the show's premiere, the 27-year old spoke with People magazine and talked about his expectations for this brand new chapter in his life, saying that he hopes that he would find the right woman for him at the end of the experience.

"Ideally, I would love to walk away from this with a fiancée," he told the magazine. "I'm excited about that next step of seeing her walk down the aisle towards me."

Earlier this month, it was reported that filming for the upcoming season has wrapped. While there is still no news whether Ben has made a proposal or not, it looks like he's in for quite a challenge as he tries to narrow down his choices from 28 women vying for his attention and his heart.

When asked what he's looking for in a future wife, he told the magazine that he wants to be with "somebody with a genuine heart, who believes in truth and authenticity and hopefully shares the same Christian faith that I do."

Ben is a devout Christian and he has previously said that his faith is very important to him. Before working for a software company, he used to work at a church as an intern. According to Heavy.com, he has one tattoo which is a quote from Proverbs 16:3 that reads, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Earlier this week, a new promo was released for the upcoming season by Entertainment Weekly in which Ben politely declined to kiss Lace. In the promo, Lace asked for "a better first kiss," but Ben told her that he wanted to spend time to get to know everyone first.

"My goal getting into this, was like, getting to know everybody before kissing, so—obviously, you look gorgeous—and it's easy to get sucked into the physical aspect that you forget to take time to talk," he explained to Lace.

"The Bachelor" season 16 premieres on Monday, Jan. 4, at 8/7c on ABC.
