It has recently been announced that comedian Jim Carrey and action-star Keanu Reeves have signed on for "The Bad Batch," a dystopian love story film set to be directed by Ana Lilly Amirpour and produced by VICE and Annapurna Pictures. Carrey has been cast as "The Hermit" while Reeves is playing "The Dream." 

"The Bad Batch" also stars Jason Momoa as the main character "Miami Man," while Suki Waterhouse has taken the role of the female lead. Jim  Diego Luna will be portraying a character named "Jimmy." 

The film tells a post-apocalyptic story in a Texas wasteland, right in an area inhabited by cannibals. The plot focuses on one cannibal in particular, played by Momoa, and his food, played by Waterhouse. According to DreadCentral, director Amirpour described "The Bad Batch" as a unique cross between "The Road Warrior" and "Pretty in Pink," connoting both the brutal post-apocalyptic atmosphere of the former with the romantic-comedy of the latter. 

It is expected to be yet another spin for Carrey's career. Popular for straight-up comedy roles in the 1990s and early 2000s, Carrey has experimented with drama and romance with the cult-classic "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and with rated-R action in "Kick-Ass 2." His most recent work is the 2014 sequel to the 1994 comedy "Dumb and Dumber" titled "Dumb and Dumber To." 

Reeves has also made a comeback with his career with his most recent film, "John Wick," earning high praise from critics and fans alike. 

It will also be director Amirpour's first big film following her debut project, "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night," a tale of a lonely vampire stalking an Iranian town. For her style and creative force, she was also called "the next Tarantino" as cited by Indiewire in 2014.
