The Best Of Paradise

Fierce! have got their hands on some rare and purely vintage material from one of the true pioneering bands of the British Gospel scene.

Paradise go back – and we mean way back – to the end of the 1970s. It was then that a new sound emerged from British black churches. A fusion of disco funk, street soul and old gospel classics, the buzz grew as the mainstream sat up and listened.

Paradise were the pioneers of this Gospel Funk sound. With a rolling lineup they represented a unique subgenre of UK Black gospel music which was influenced by 70s giants like The Commodores and Earth Wind and Fire.

They crossed racial lines and drew plenty of attention from mainstream music executives, many of whom saw them as the UK’s answer to Kool And The Gang or Earth, Wind and Fire. In the early 1980s Paradise went on to pave the way for contemporary gospel in the UK.

So we have got our hands on these gems and know exactly what to do with them. Out this summer is a unique album: The Best of Paradise, including standout tracks from their ground breaking 1982 album World’s Midnight.

This CD is a tribute to a group of musician’s who were not afraid to go beyond the frontiers. For the nostalgic, prepare for the flooding back of fond memories. For today’s generation prepare to discover a diamond.

What better way to celebrate a remarkable journey that influenced so many in the gospel Christian music scene today?
