In the next episode of the "The Big Bang Theory," Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) teams up with Bert Kibbler (Brian Posehn) on a geological research project.

The trailer for the upcoming installment titled "The Geology Methodology" was just released and showed Cooper seeking Penny Hofstadter's (Kaley Cuoco) advice on whether he should collaborate with Kibbler on his project. "No one is going to take me seriously if they find out that I have been dabbling in geology," Cooper says with concern. Apparently, the physicist has an issue with geology because he does not feel that it is a real science. "Then don't work with Bert," Penny tells Cooper who immediately replies that he likes to work with the geologist. Penny then tells Cooper to work with him, who then says that he is ashamed of the field. They go back and forth until Penny gets clearly frustrated.

In a sneak peek, Cooper, Penny's husband Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) are having lunch at the university cafeteria when Kibbler approaches them and asks Cooper to help him with his research project. Cooper rejects his invitation and tells him that he has real science to handle. As Kibbler walks away, Leonard urges Cooper to collaborate with Kibbler because he is the top person in his field.

In the previous episode, Cooper sent an audition tape for the children's educational show "Mr. Proton." He was hoping that he would be cast but his nemesis Wil Wheaton got hired instead of him. Cooper deeply resented this because he believed he was more qualified since he was a real scientist, whereas Wheaton was just an actor. Nevertheless, Cooper let go of his disappointment eventually.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 11 episode 7 will air on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
