'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Sheldon breaks down on national television in episode 7

Sheldon will shed tears for Amy in the upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory."CBS

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will reach his breaking point in his separation from Amy (Mayim Bialik) in the upcoming episode of the CBS series.

In "The Spock Resonance," Cartermatt reports that the genius will not be able told hold his emotions in check about his recent break up. Unfortunately for him, he will do it in front of a national audience, as he is being interviewed for a documentary about Spock from "Star Trek." Viewers will see an emotionally charged episode, as the normally tough Sheldon sheds a few tears over his ex-girlfriend. Has he finally figured out that he cannot live without Amy?

Last episode, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) pushed Amy to try a new dating app, Tinder, to get back in the dating game. It turned out they did not have to bother, as she already had a new date in mind. Amy went out with a mystery man named Dave (guest star Stephen Merchant) and things were looking good between the two.

Meanwhile, Penny and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) will discover that Sheldon had purchased an engagement ring for Amy. Sheldon is reportedly the one who will share his secret, as he is feeling down after learning about Amy's date with Dave. Perhaps he is thinking that Amy will come back to him once she knows how serious he is about their relationship. If she knows about the ring, Sheldon wants to believe that she will not throw away their years together. But will she?

Amy is certainly looking too preoccupied with her new man. She seems determined to put everything that has to do with Sheldon behind. Once she learns about her ex-boyfriend's plan to propose, will her heart be swayed? In the past episode, she was displeased to hear that Sheldon attempted to go out on a date with other women. Could it be that she is just using Dave to salvage her wounded pride?

"The Big Bang Theory" returns Thursday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
