Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) will be facing some marital issues early in their marriage in the upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory."

In the promo released by CBS for episode 12 titled "The Sales Call Sublimation," the pair will be meeting a therapist named Dr. Sarita Gallo (Jane Kaczmarek). As husband and wife see her separately, it becomes obvious that most of their hang-ups are about Sheldon (Jim Parsons). The therapy is reportedly part of their New Year's resolution, but instead of helping them open up about their marriage, the sessions will do more harm than good.

The clip shows Penny lying in a couch in the therapist's office and exposing her thoughts about her marriage. She is saying that they have a "man child" living with them. When Dr. Gallo hears the name Sheldon, she mentions that Leonard talks about him a lot and she is not even sure if he really exists. Penny hilariously tells her Sheldon exists, alright, as real as the fine she receives after using too much toilet paper.

Elsewhere, Leonard is telling Sheldon he wants to get him "Sheld-off" instead of "Sheld-on" that night. Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Sheldon asks Leonard if he suffers from "low self-esteem, social anxiety, sexual insecurity." The scene cuts to Penny telling her husband that the list goes on and on while Leonard looks resigned.

Also in episode 12, viewers will see Howard and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) having sex again. The couple is still in bed when Howard expressed his satisfaction for a good day. He says he thought he is done getting lucky, but there he is getting much love from his wife.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will return on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
