After running away from her colleagues in the FBI during the first half of season 3, Liz Keen (Megan Boone) must trust them for her survival when "The Blacklist" returns in January.

Based on the trailer for "The Blacklist" season 3 midseason premiere, Keen will be in the hands of her former partner Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). He was tasked to bring her to the glass holding cell where Red (James Spader) was held in the show's first season.

Ressler assured her that he will do everything that he can to keep her safe and give her a fair hearing to clear her name from the accusations regarding the U.S. Attorney General's death. But the former FBI special agent pointed out that they both know that she won't be able to say her piece before she gets killed.

The promo trailer for the upcoming season 3 midseason premiere revealed that Red warned Ressler on the phone that Cabal is running after Keen, and her life is in peril if they manage to reach her.

A montage of different action-packed scenes was also featured in the trailer, including Keen and The Director's (David Strathairn) face-to-face encounter, senior Cabal operative Matthias Solomon (Edi Gathegi) pointing a gun at an individual, and Aram (Amir Arison) holding a gun.

In the last scene, Keen suddenly dropped to the floor, looking weak and out of breath.

Meanwhile, series executive producer Jon Bokenkamp revealed what's next for Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marno) during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

According to Bokenkamp, Samar will no longer work with Ressler and the FBI in the second half of "The Blacklist" season 3. This could make it easier for her to work with Red.

"Those two have a very unusual and very mysterious relationship. I would think it might be likely to see Red and Samar perhaps teaming up in some capacity," the executive producer explained. "Beyond that, what's interesting moving forward is the dynamic between Aram (Amir Arison), Ressler and Samar, and what has happened with that very weird triangle."

"The Blacklist" season 3 is slated to return in Jan. 7 on NBC.
