Jon Bokenkamp and his creative team threw a curveball last episode of the hit NBC series "The Blacklist" when it was revealed that Liz (Megan Boone) was pregnant with Tom's (Ryan Eggold) child.

Liz learned of the shocking news after waking up in the hospital following an attack of a misguided man in the grocery store parking lot. He thought she was the fugitive mentioned in the news and proceeded to beat her. Luckily for Liz, she did not sustain much injuries, considering that she passed out. The doctor's announcement that the baby was fine threw her off, as she did not know she was pregnant.

Before she went on the run to escape the FBI, Liz and Tom slept together. Prior to that episode, it had already been announced that the actress is pregnant with her first child. Bokenkamp previously commented on whether or not her condition would be incorporated into the storyline. According to Entertainment Weekly, he and the team behind the series were still in discussion on how to approach the new development.

"We are still trying to figure it out. It plays in a number of different ways, both story wise and physically, for Megan in trying to figure out what that would mean to the show," the executive producer said.

With Liz pregnant, she and Tom will have to discuss plans for the baby's arrival. In the promo for the upcoming episode titled "The Vehm," Liz is telling her former husband that she is expecting their child. Tom looks flabbergasted, but happy nonetheless. He quickly tells Liz that their current lifestyle is not healthy for raising a kid and that they must get away from Red (James Spader).

Red, however, cautions Liz that he will not be able to protect her if she runs away. Which man will Liz choose?

"The Blacklist" season 3 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
