Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) seems to be prepared to help his ex-wife in the next episode of "The Blacklist" season 3.

In the trailer fort the episode titled "Eli Matchett," Tom was seen talking to FBI Special Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) to discuss the fate of his ex-wife Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), who is currently on the run for shooting a corrupt public official.

"I know you don't trust me. Liz needs all the help she can get," Tom told Ressler in the promo to stop him from going after the former FBI agent.

It looks like a reversal of roles between the estranged couple, since Tom is now cleared from his past crime and can walk freely without having to worry about getting arrested. On the other hand, Liz has to hide with her partner Red (James Spader) to avoid jail time and learn more about her past.

Series executive producer Jon Bokenkamp shared a few spoilers with the Entertainment Weekly, saying "They're completely flipped in who they are and almost also in the way they approach the situation — she's now feeling the desperation of being a criminal and trying to operate in the shadows, and he's trying to come clean and trying to redeem himself in her eyes.

Bokenkamp also reminded that Tom was nowhere near Liz when she killed the US Attorney General. But when he learned that Liz is in danger, he immediately returned from wherever he was in Japan to protect her from the impending dangers.

Tom and Liz ended their relationship in season 2 when she found out that he was working for Red and their marriage was staged. However, Tom fell genuinely in love with her during the "fake" marriage, and even invited her to move with him in Japan to begin a new life together.

The episode synopsis for the upcoming "The Blacklist" season 3 episode reads:

"Red and Liz take a detour towards the Midwest as part of their mission to exonerate Liz and defeat the Cabal. Ressler, Samar (Mozhan Marno) and Aram (Amir Arison) continue to track the fugitives and in the process stumble upon what could become a global food crisis. Meanwhile, Cooper turns to an unlikely ally."

"The Blacklist" season 3 episode 3 airs on Thursday, Oct. 15, on NBC.
