The Cabal will not let Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) divulge what she knows to the authorities in the upcoming episode of the hit NBC series "The Blacklist."

In "The Director," the promo reveals Peter Kotsiopulos (David Strathairn) and Laurel Hitchin (Christine Lahti) talking about their plan to eliminate the ex-FBI agent. According to the National Security Advisor, there is a special directive from the White House that demands for a closed trial for Liz, so that the Cabal will not be able to manipulate her hearing. Laurel is obviously worried, as she tells the Director that once the President learns of their duplicity, it will be the end of their careers.

Peter, however, is quite confident that they can pull off Liz's assassination in the three hours it will take to transport her to the courtroom. He tells Laurel that if they can topple "an entire government in less time," three hours is a long time to make one woman disappear. Laurel appears unconvinced, though, as she mentions that it is about time for Peter to make up for his gaffe in "overplaying his hand" with Raymond Reddington (James Spader).

Laurel wants Liz's book to be closed, permanently, and it looks like Peter will do everything to make sure it will happen. The teaser shows Liz being escorted by Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and a battalion of police officers from the safe house where the FBI kept her safe from the long reach of the Cabal. It looks like the place is deep in the woods, but as the Cabal already knows where she is, hiding her is close to impossible.

As Peter's men attempt to ambush Liz's entourage, it will be interesting how Ressler will try to protect her life. Giving her a fair hearing is the only thing he can do as a friend and former colleague. Will this chance be robbed off her once the Cabal succeeds in its mission to eliminate her?

"The Blacklist" season 3 will return on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
