It seems like Liz Keen (Megan Boone) will be reunited with her biological parents, now that her mother Katerina Rostova was confirmed to return in "The Blacklist" season 4.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that Lotte Verbeek, who portrays the role of Katerina in the series, will return in the show for the upcoming season. She first appeared in season 3 in Red's (James Spader) vision when they first found out about Liz's death. But Katerina's presence in the series had been felt since the start of the show.

"In the first two seasons, we used pictures and a few fragments of memory, but Lotte brought Katarina to life in 'Cape May,'" executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said when he announced Katerina's return. "The fan response to that character has been great. The episode itself was a departure, but we've found some really interesting story opportunities as a result."

This could mean that Liz may finally find out the real reason why her mother died. Red initially told her that Katarina took her own life by drowning herself, but even Red was not sure if Katerina was really dead. Will they finally learn the truth about her? Or will she just appear in a series of flashbacks or as another figment of Red or Liz's imagination?

This could also mean that Katerina could shed light about Alexander Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) claim that he is Liz's real father. But could Liz get out of Kirk's clutches after he captured her at the end of season 3?

Meanwhile, Liz and Red's complicated relationship will be tested in the upcoming season of "The Blacklist" after Red discovered that Liz faked her own death just to get away from him and find out who she really is by herself. She also wanted to live a peaceful life with Tom (Ryan Eggold) and their daughter, which will be impossible if she is still connected to Red. But can she really get rid of him for good?

"The Blacklist" season 4 premieres Sept. 22 on NBC.
