More secrets are expected to be unveiled when "The Blacklist" returns for season 4.

Fans of the series were worried about how Red (James Spader) felt after Liz Keen's (Megan Boone) betrayal was uncovered in the third season finale of the crime drama thriller. But according to the actor, Red probably understood why Liz decided to lie to him and everyone else.

"He's not insensitive to the fact of what she's going through in her life right now and he's aware of her knowledge of his feelings about all of it, and he's made that plain," Spader told Entertainment Weekly. "I think he would have an understanding for what led to this."

Now that she has a daughter of her own, Liz's intention of knowing her background without Red's lies and influence becomes stronger. She would also want to avoid risking her life in order to return safely to her child. This could mean that the FBI informant was aware about the dangers that he could bring to her life.

But according to executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath, Red and Liz's relationship will be further explored next season as Liz's connection with Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) unfolds.

In a separate report from Entertainment Weekly, Bokenkamp revealed that the sudden appearance of Kirk in Liz's life will have a major implication on the story for season 4.

"He says he's her father, but is he going to hurt her, help her, be kind to her, or does he want to destroy her?" Eisendrath said.

But Bokenkamp added that everything will be tackled when the series returns next season.

"What I do promise is that Alexander Kirk and his relationship to Liz will ultimately give us a far deeper understanding of Red's relationship to Liz in season 4, Bokenkamp revealed."

"The Blacklist" season 4 is expected to premiere on NBC this fall.
