"The Crow" is one of the many iconic superhero movies ever made. And in that respect, many fans have been clamoring for a franchise reboot since years ago. And just last year, the movie was confirmed to be going into works and will be top-billed by "Justice League" star Jason Momoa.

Now, all seem to be set in stone as Sony has revealed an official release date for "The Crow" remake -- a theatrical release of Oct. 11, 2019. This announcement comes after Relativity Media dropped the project, which Sony quickly salvaged.

Besides Momoa, Corin Hardy has also been confirmed to helm the supernatural film remake. James O'Barr, who wrote the comic book, has also jumped on board with the reboot and will be involved heavily in the production and filming, but it is still unknown what specific role he will be serving for the film.

"The Crow," which originally starred the late rockstar Brandon Lee, is about a supernatural avenger who rose from the death to exact revenge upon those who murdered him and his wife on their wedding day. It was a box office hit at the time, earning $50.7 million. The film made its first debut in 1993 and was followed by a sequel in 1996 "The Crow: City of Angels."

Before the shooting for the movie could end, Lee died during an accident, which involved a malfunctioning prop gun.

According to reports, storyline-wise, the reboot will follow the events of "The Crow" in the comic book more accurately, staying faithful to the story itself.

Alex Proyas, director of the original franchise, has expressed his opinion regarding the reboot, which he says should not happen. Proyas said that the series should stay as it is, as the late Lee's legacy and that a retelling is something that is "unnecessary."

Elsewhere, along with "The Crow's" release confirmation, Sony also announced other movies set to drop for 2019 -- "A Dog's Way Home" to drop on Jan. 11 and "Miss Bala" to see a release on Jan. 25.
