The Netflix series "The Crown" has its second season fast approaching. It will be released on Dec. 8. However, given that the series is based on the historical accounts of the long-reigning British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, it is quite easy to assume which major events in the Queen's life could possibly be tackled in season 3, which will then be portrayed by Olivia Colman.

In a report by Town and Country Magazine, the 43-year-old Colman will be portraying the Queen beyond the early '60s, which is where season 2 will supposedly end. This puts the story of season 3 in the mid-60s to the early 70s, given that each season spans about a decade in the Queen's life. Currently, there are no reports yet on who will be replacing British actor Matt Smith for the role of Prince Philip, but showrunners are definitely looking into it.

Despite the majority of the news being about cast replacements for the third season, the show's producers have already revealed a new major character that will be making an appearance. According to Radio Times, season 3 is when Camilla Parker Bowles also known as Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will be introduced as a character, as revealed by one of the show's producers, Suzanne Mackie.

Camilla is the second wife of Prince Charles, which means that Camilla will be portrayed at a very young age as early as season 3 and 4. The recently revealed news is something that fans should be delighted with, given how rapidly the planning stages are as of now for the upcoming seasons. The show's creators may be fast and diligent workers, but Den of Geek reports that they still have not decided if new cast members will be recruited after the fourth season.

Season 2 of "The Crown" will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 8.
