Fans are already waiting for the next installment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise. While Bethesda is not giving out any hints at "The Elder Scrolls 6," the studio did confirm that fans will have to wait long for a new game.

Bethesda's Pete Hines has already confirmed that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is at least "years and years" away, answering a question from a fan. However, although fans will have to wait long for the franchise sequel, it is good to know that a new installment is coming. None other than game director Todd Howard confirmed the franchise sequel, hinting that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is not coming soon.

"That's kind of like the elephant in the room, always, when we talk about anything, and I think it's good to tell our fans in these moments, yes, of course we are [making Elder Scrolls 6]," Howard said.

The director also admitted that the franchise is one of the major titles of Bethesda. Understandably, making a new "The Elder Scrolls" game means that the creative team has to painstakingly build up the game to make it as exciting for players as possible.

Howard adds, "It's something we love. But it is—I have to be careful what I say—it's a very long way off. I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, 'That sounds like you don't even have the technology—how long is that going to take?' And so it's something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game."

Meanwhile, as for the franchise, Bethesda has confirmed that players who are waiting for "The Elder Scrolls 6" may busy themselves with a remastered version of the "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." The special edition game comes out on Oct. 28 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
